Overview:

The Materials Manager is responsible for warehouse inventory accuracy and the incoming and outgoing flow of materials.

Huen Electric also provides design/assist expertise, from the preparation of cost estimates and controls to value engineering and preconstruction planning. 

Essential Functions:

  • Establish daily schedules and plans and prioritize materials to meet internal and external customer requirements 
  • Support customers with changing needs 
  • Ensure all incoming materials are received in a timely manner and placed in the appropriate locations
  • Establish guidelines and train employees on proper handling, loading, and unloading techniques for product transport 
  • Review all shipments and work with other departments to ensure on-time and accurate deliveries 
  • Schedule work for special and periodic inventory including cycle counting and year end 
  • Identify the lowest cost suppliers and material sources from high quality and reliable vendors 
  • Investigate nontraditional sources for material to drive down purchasing costs 
  • Generate purchase orders 
  • Negotiate the best possible pricing and payment terms for all vendors 
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required 
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Principal Skills:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a materials management role 
  • Strong commitment to safety 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain rapport 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills 
  • Strong leadership and team building skills

Preferred Education:

  • A combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
