Job Description

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has a customer service focus to join our corporate payroll team! As a Payroll Assistant, your primary responsibility is to accurately compute and record earnings owed to designated employees and perform relevant data entry.

After our initial training period, we offer a hybrid schedule with 2 days of work from home and 3 days in the office per week.

Essential Functions

  • Review and enter timecards
  • Process unemployment claims
  • Prepare interim checks
  • Calculate, edit, and print payroll checks or facilitate electronic fund transfer
  • Prepare union reports and certified payrolls
  • Record and administer bonus payments
  • Review reports and correct errors in a timely manner while communicating with employees and management
  • Calculate deductions such as income tax withholding, Social Security payments, insurance, and union dues
  • Immediately record changes to relevant payroll records, including withholdings
  • Prepare accurate summary reports per pay period, as well as on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Assists Payroll management with pay-related matters and projects
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed in a Company-designated office or field location
  • Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards, if applicable

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Salary Range (Level II)

  • Salary commensurate with experience ($19.27-$25.27/hour) with weekly pay. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
  • Minimum 3 years of payroll operations experience is required. (experience with multi-state, garnishments, and/or in a construction environment is helpful)
  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications & Salary Range (Level III)

  • Salary commensurate with experience ($22.25-$29.25/hour) with weekly pay. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
  • Minimum 5 years of payroll operations experience is required. (experience with multi-state, garnishments, and/or in a construction environment is helpful)
  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to learn and utilize payroll entry and tracking software
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word & Outlook), Excel (formulas and standardizing data)
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal capabilities
  • Effective, tactful communication skills with the ability to assist employees at all organizational levels concerning pay and deductions
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information
  • Ability to maintain focus and practice agility in prioritizing daily workload
  • Self-starter with a good attitude

  • Two days per week remote work option for non-field roles depending on position and performance.
