The Staff Accountant provides financial information to management by compiling and analyzing account information; analyzing accounting options; preparing balance sheets and other special reports; auditing documents; and reconciling discrepancies.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain records of account entries by compiling and analyzing accounting activities
  • Review and post daily entries
  • Reconcile bank accounts
  • Run monthly close cycle
  • Prepare reports such as balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other documents that project the organization's financial position
  • Prepare and analyze monthly district performance reports
  • Ad hoc operational reports and requests
  • Review financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and compliance
  • Record and analyze accruals
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations
  • Work with both internal and external auditors on a frequent basis: providing information and answering questions
  • Assist regional operational staff on report or information requests
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location
  • Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards

Job Requirements


  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience - no experience is required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Working towards a CPA is beneficial


  • Ability to learn and understand accounting system and work with IT on projects
  • Good knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Strong analytical abilities required
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong data entry and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • Salary commensurate with experience and weekly pay. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. 
  • Two days per week remote work option for non-field roles depending on position and performance.
