Boulos’ powerline construction division provides a full-range of capabilities related to transmission, distribution and substation construction.

Substation Project Manager Duties:

  • Project Manager will be the main point of contact for clients on assigned projects
  • Responsible for full accountability of all financial and administrative duties on assigned projects
  • Mentor, delegate to and monitor progress of assigned Project Engineers / Admins
  • Understand contractual and scope requirements for assigned projects
  • Monitor project safety and conduct regular safety audits
  • Prepare and maintain project budgets including weekly/monthly cost accounting/projections
  • Prepare and maintain project construction schedules
  • Prepare, manage and negotiate change orders and claims, including how changes impact schedule
  • Prepare invoices and manage project accounts payable
  • Material procurement
  • Manage subcontractors
  • Responsible for project documentation including but not limited to submittal, RFIs, QA/QC plans & reporting, environmental plans & reporting
  • Conduct project meeting and maintain meeting minutes
  • Work closely with field supervision to establish Work Plans. Once established PM will oversee, monitor and make changes to Work Plan as necessary.
  • Meet regularly with field supervision to review production, project costs and outstanding issues
  • Develop recovery strategies when project schedule and/or budget are in jeopardy
  • Project Managers act as the main point of contact for projects and facilitating conference calls
  • Work closely with field supervision to prepare look-ahead documents and weekly/monthly progress reports
  • Review and monitor job costs versus budgets
  • Promptly report to Sr. Management issues that may effect profitability or reputation of ESB and work closely with Sr. Management to develop recovery plans
  • Understand and comply with ESB and MYR policy and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Substation Project Manager Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of Project Management experience in the utilities or construction industry 
  • Prior Project Manager experience working in electrical energy involving the construction of substations
  • Excellent ability to manage customer relations and work with project owners directly
  • Ability to project manage multiple multi-million dollar projects, track project financials, maintain schedules, and understand the estimating process 
  • Availability to travel and work projects throughout the New England territory to include ME, MA, CT, NH, RI, VT and NY
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field is preferred but not mandatory
  • Proficiency with MS Suite of products
  • Proficiency with P6 scheduling software preferred
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills
